Summary

Twelfth Night is one of Shakespeare's best known comedies. It follows two sets of twins, Viola and Sebastian who are shipwrecked and separated in the coastal town of Illyria. Believing her brother to be dead, Viola disguises herself as a boy and takes a job delivering the Duke Orsino's messages of love to the Countess Olivia. Olivia is not interested in Orsino, but finds herself smitten with his messenger, not knowing the messenger is actually Viola (who in turn has fallen in love with her master, Orsino).

Mixed up in the love triangle are Olivia's servants, her freeloading, hard-partying uncle, a sharp-witted clown and others. Things come to a head when Sebastian arrives in Illyria (accompanied by the fugitive pirate Antonio) and is mistaken for his sister at every turn. The production features madcap comedy, a live folk band and some of Shakespeare's most humorous, thoughtful and accessible prose.
